Some of our invigilators, volunteers and interns comment on their time with the IAF.

Our colleague, Louise Dredge on being an intern with Open House 2008 and an invigilator on The Lives of Spaces in Venice last year:

Open House

As someone who has been involved in Open House Dublin since its advent three years ago, I am delighted to see this public event growing, both in its content and in its popularity, as each year passes. The dedication of the many volunteers over the course of the weekend and in the lead-up to it, is always rewarded by the crowds who come out for that one weekend in October. It is thanks to the generosity of these volunteers and building owners that the public can have access to the architectural treasures of our capital city. Long may Open House Dublin continue!

Venice

It was an absolute honour to welcome international visitors to the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2008. The Irish entry was without a doubt the most beautiful exhibition in the Biennale, a fact which was regularly reinforced by visitors’ comments.
Special recognition should go to the co-commissioners/curators, Nathalie Weadick and Dr. Hugh Campbell for their extremely professional and fascinating exploration in to the ‘art’ of curating architecture.

Grainne Keane on working in Venice on The Lives of Spaces 2008.

Visitor reaction to the Lives of Spaces exbibition was the element I found most rewarding to working at the Biennale this year. Especially interesting was the feedback from and discussions with people who had just stumbled upon the Irish Pavilion and its atmospheric appraisal of our contemporary architecture.
