My Place - School Workshop, Tallaght
School children from Cnoc Mhuire Senior National School in Killinarden became architects for the day at the My Place workshops, part of Open House Dublin. Each workshop started with a mini-tour of the RUA RED Arts Centre, County Library, County Hall and the Civic Theatre with Simone Murray and Rachel McAree. The shapes, colours and function of the buildings were keenly observed and discussed by this enthusiastic group of young architects, who then made structures of their own designs. The wide variety of building styles explored by the group included dramatic curved roofs, coloured walls and large windows. Sustainable features proved popular, with many buildings featuring solar panels, compost bins and wind turbines. The surrounding public spaces were enlivened by public sculptures, transport systems and green areas.

My Place - Family Workshop, Tallaght
Parents and children were invited to imagine, design and make a model of their own unique public building and surrounding space. Families worked together to create colourful structures with a variety of window shapes and roof structures and public sculptures and garden parks featured in the surrounding spaces. Architects of all ages had fun at this Open House workshop from the Arts Service of South Dublin County Council.
