A SPACE FOR LEARNING: School design by architects and students

A Space for Learning is a design competition initiated by the Irish Architecture Foundation to challenge current thinking on school design, creating an opportunity for architects to collaborate with the end-users of educational spaces - the students.

The project works as an ideas competition in two stages and involves a creative collaboration between architects and schools. Architects will meet with Transition Year students from a school of their choice, facilitating the students’ input into the design of “a space for learning”.

The project will kick off in the New Year when over eighty schools and a hundred and ten architects start on a creative journey which will culminate in an exhibition of the winning designs!

‘A Space for Learning’ Blog will keep track of proceedings with regular updates and interaction between groups. We hope it will be a lively forum for all involved to contribute their thoughts and ideas on school design!
