Our Director Nathalie Weadick alongside with Stephen Mulhall will represent Ireland on the debate “Architecture as a Tool for Change”, as part of the launch of the ARCHIZINES LISBON Exhibition.

The Debate will take place at 7pm on the 11th of September at Rua Trindade, 18 Chiado – Lisboa, Portugal.

The exhibition ARCHIZINES LISBON, will run form 12th to the 22nd of September 2013 and Open daily, form 14:00 to 20:00 at FSH Arts Centre – R. Santo António à Estrela, 31 Lisboa.

ARCHIZINES LISBON is being presented at the Arts Centre of Foundation Serra Henriques as an Associated Project of the 2013 Lisbon Architecture Triennale. To mark the launch of Archizines in Lisbon (12–22 September), eight European editors and architects* discuss strategies for confronting and influencing contemporary urban issues through publishing practices on Wednesday 11 September.

Archizines is a survey of 100 new architecture magazines, fanzines and journals from over twenty countries that provide alternative platforms for architectural research, ideas and criticism. New titles joining the exhibition in Lisbon include Circular (Buenos Aires), Flaneur (Berlin), Pilcrow (Los Angeles), Project (New York), SET (Dublin) and Urban Pamphleteer (London).

Ben Campkin is Director of the UCL Urban Laboratory and Senior Lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture; co-editor of Urban Pamphleteer and author of Remaking London (IB Taurus, 2013). Elias Redstone is the curator of Archizines and the editor-in-chief of the London Architecture Diary. Previously he was the curator of the Polish Pavilion at the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale, hub curator of the 2008 London Festival of Architecture and Senior Curator at The Architecture Foundation, London. Fabio Vanin is an Italian architect and urban designer, holding a PhD in Urbanism. He received the Pancho Guedes Architecture Award for his thesis “Maputo Open City”. Ivo Poças Martins is an architect based in Porto and editor of Friendly Fire, an independent architecture collective interested in subversive and humorous narratives and practices. Its aim is to address the architectural culture and its effects on everyday life in an alternative and informal perspective. João Santa-Rita is Vice-President of the Portuguese Order of Architects. Nathalie Weadick is Director of the Irish Architecture Foundation and curator of the forthcoming exhibition at the Irish Museum of Modern Art called The Everyday Experience. Stephen Mulhall is editor of A4 and columnist for Architecture Ireland, and was previously editor of Building Material, the journal of the Architectural Association of Ireland. Stephen runs nineteeneighty, recently voted Best Emerging Practice at the Irish Architecture Awards 2013. Tom Keeley works at the intersection of architecture, geography, landscape and anthropology through writing, research, teaching, and publishing. He runs Range Editions, and is the editor of America Deserta Revisited.
