Open House Dublin 2014

22.02.14

Here is a sneaky peak into the highlights of the IAF’s ninth annual Open House Dublin 2014 which takes place on the 17 – 19 October.

Our exciting additions to 2014’s programme include the US Embassy, a modernist icon by architect John M Johansen; the show-stopping Airbnb European Hub designed by Heneghan Peng; the award-winning Airfield House redevelopment by McLoughlin Architects and Solearth; the imposing Convention Centre by renowned architect Kevin Roche, the sensitively designed senior citizen housing at McKee Court by Dublin City Architects and an early look inside the eagerly anticipated Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Central Library and Cultural Centre, the dlr LexIcon.

From up-and-coming Irish practices we have Blackrock’s Bear Market Coffee Shop by VAV Architects, the Merrion Cricket Pavillion by TAKA Architects and an extension of a 1930’s Clontarf home by Architectural Farm.

We are launching a new initiative called Open House Plus, which consists of series of walks, exhibitions and screenings that expand architecture beyond the buildings. Open House Junior also returns with a series of creative and lively events for children and young people.

This is just a taster to whet your appetite; the full programme will be released in September. So do not call until then to book a place on a tour, but remember that 90% of the programme is first come first served.

If you are looking for special access why not volunteer for OHD! Every year hundreds of great, enthusiastic people get involved with the IAF for the weekend. Contact Rachel at volunteers@architecturefoundation.ie to see how you can help to make Open House Dublin a huge success.
