Irénée Scalbert is an architectural critic based in London. He is a Visiting Professor at the Politecnico in Milan and a lecturer at SAUL in Ireland. He has taught at the Architectural Association for many years, last as coordinator of the undergraduate History and Theory programme, and he is a member of the editorial board of AA Files. He has been a Visiting Design Critic at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard and a Visiting Professor at the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture, Paris-Malaquais. He has contributed essays to architectural magazines on a wide range of historical and contemporary issues. He is the author of A Right to Difference: The Architecture of Jean Renaudie (2004) and Never Modern (2013).
