Describing Architecture: Scale + Medium: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS deadline 17th Sept

The Architectural Association of Ireland presents its annual exhibition exploring architectural representation and its role in creating and designing built space. This year, we are asking participants to submit work that responds to the theme of Scale + Medium.

Architects operate at many different scales, and as a result so does the work they produce – from the detail of the door handle to the scale of the room, from the scale of the house to the scale of the street and city.
This consideration generates work throughout the design process, work that is explored through various forms of medium – drawings, models, photographs, painting, collage and video.

The exhibition will explore the relationship between scale and medium when representing space. We want participants to consider this when selecting their work. The work can be something already created or in the process of being made. It can describe a completed building, an unfinished project or an idea.

The first stage submission is digital, and pieces selected from this will be exhibited in a space in North Great Georges Street during Open House Dublin 2012 (5th – 9th October). Works can be offered for sale.

Online Submission Details: Deadline: MONDAY 17 SEPTEMBER at 6pm
Format: Email your work for selection to describingarchitecture@gmail.com
Information: 1-3 jpeg images, a brief description (<100 words) and the title, medium and size. (Images of work in work in progress can also be submitted)

This year the exhibition will be located in a beautiful series of rooms on North Great Georges Street during Open House Dublin, 3rd – 7th October. Opening Wednesday 3rd October, 6.30pm.
