JellyTown! Kinsale Arts Festival 7th July

The Kinsale Arts Festival this July will feature an architectural contribution by A2 Architects, PAC Studio and Jennifer Kingston, Architecture Student, a workshop that will create a replica of Kinsale made out of jelly!

The diverse architecture programme at Kinsale Arts Week includes workshops, site visits; and lectures. Please see the full programme below:

Saturday 7th July
11am-2pm: ‘JellyTown!’ Children’s Workshop, Kinsale: For the times that are in it an up-lit wobbly jelly model of Kinsale atop a low perspex base will be made over the course of the weekend to explore what Kinsale is and can become (to be populated with gummi bears, pastilles, snakes and gums and eventually eaten when built of course!) Drop in workshops €5 for ages 5+ Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. Materials provided max size 20
2pm-3pm: The Geometry of Milk, a lecture by guest speaker Elizabeth Hatz, Architect. Jelly + Cream as refreshments. €5 max size 40
3pm – 4pm: Jelly Recipe’s Workshop with Christine O’Sullivan of Kinsale and Masterchef Ireland fame. A former architecture student, Christine will be constructing a number of delicious and intriguing jellies. Tastings provided. Advance booking essential €7.50 Ages 14+ max size 25
4pm-6pm: Site Visit to Kire Clothing Factory/ O’Flaherty House Kinsale with Dr. Ellen Rowley of Trinity College Dublin & DoCoMoMo Ireland (details tbc) Site visit free, advance booking essential as numbers limited. max size 20

Sunday 8th July

2pm-3pm: ‘The Culture of Taste: Observing How and Where People Eat’: A Lecture by A2 Architects. Jelly + Cream as refreshments. Admission Free max size 40
3pm-5pm: ‘Taste and Aroma: Deconstructing Food’ workshop with David Jackson, Sensory Scientist and Molecular Gastronomist. Tastings provided. Advance booking essential €7.50 max size 25
5pm-6pm: Best ‘Charlesfort’ Jelly Model Competition. Bring your entries along, for judging at 6pm. All welcome! Spoons provided. Prize is family dinner for four at the Inchydoney Lodge and Spa, Clonakilty.
