O’Connell Mahon and Isherwood & Ellis to design National Maternity Hospital

14.05.14

O’Connell Mahon Architects and Isherwood & Ellis Architect will be the architects of the plan which will oversee the development of the National Maternity Hospitals at St Vincent’s Hospital.
The current Holles Street location will be vacated, as the hospital moves to Elm Park in a €150 million move. The new National Maternity Hospital will open in 2019.

O’Connell Mahon won a 2009 competition to design the National Children’s Hospital, while Belfast firm Isherwood & Ellis have designed educational and healthcare facilities across Ireland.

Bruce Shaw Partnership, Arup and RPS will provide surveying, engineering and fire consultation services, respectively.

In conjunction with the Project Board, one of the Design Team’s initial tasks in ‘Stage 1 – Preliminary Design’ will be the further development of a detailed project programme. It is expected that construction work will commence in 2016 and the hospital will be complete in 2019.
