Recalling Modernist Architecture: Destruction, Retention, Restoration 18th Oct

DoCoMoMo Ireland and RHA present a talk and discussion on the disappearance of modern buildings in Ireland such as the IMCO factory (1932-39, dem. 1975, Merrion Road, Dublin). The evening, on Thursday 18th October, which coincides with the exhibition of the film Something New Under the Sun by Gavin Murphy, features Catherine Croft, Director of Twentieth Century Society, UK.

The Twentieth Century Society exists to safeguard the heritage of architecture and design in Britain from 1914 onwards. The Society’s prime objectives are conservation, to protect the buildings and design that characterise the Twentieth Century in Britain, and education, to extend our knowledge and appreciation of them, whether iconic buildings like the Royal Festival Hall or everyday artifacts like the red telephone box.

DoCoMoMo is the International committee for documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of the modern movement.
