PLACE, the Architecture Centre for Northern Ireland, will be running an Urban Design School this August for five days of architecture, design, public art, building visits, sketching, photography and history. This summer school is aimed at 14 – 19 year olds with an interest in architecture and the built environment and those considering studying architecture, planning, public art or related courses.
You’ll learn about
architecture, from heritage to cutting-edge modern, and from private houses to churches and factories
how our towns and cities are put together
the history of cities – and their future
public space & private space
planning for the city and the countryside
how urban design shapes the world we live in
how we all need to work together to make our towns, cities and villages better places to live, work and play
The week will include building visits, sketching lessons, guided tours, film screenings, and talks from architects, planners, urban designers and artists.
The price for this event is £50 (including lunch and refreshments each day as well as materials).
