Word River 8th – 23rd Sept

Fergal Mc Carthy’s on-going love affair with the river Liffey is set to continue at ABSOLUT Fringe 2012 as he returns with Word River. This is the third installation in his critically acclaimed Liffey project following Liffeytown (2010) and No Man’s Land (2011).

Word River explores his fascination with the beauty and limitations of language using the river’s walls as a canvas, Absolut Fringe and Dublin Unesco City of literature have commissioned him to stencil hundreds of metre high words into the grime of the Liffey walls using a powerhose to form a 3km linear stripe of text visible from the quays. The public will be allowed to step aboard his row boat as he traces the river’s literary heritage and its Joycean roots.
