Open House Dublin 2015 Photography Competition Winners

13.11.15

Thank you all for submitting an entry for this year’s Open House Dublin Photography Competition. The overall quality of the photographs was extremely high!

Our judging panel; Ste Murray, architectural and performance photographer, Declan Scullion, co-founder of De Suin Scullion Architects and Blaithin Quinn, visual artist, convened earlier this week and after much deliberation we are delighted to announce our winners;

First prize: Rudy de Souza for his stunning shot capturing the Dublin Port Centre car-park.
The Jury commented that ‘the winning entry, captures a moment in the life of the Dublin Port car-park.’  Through much deliberation, the jury agreed that the photograph deserved recognition for observing a moment when individual thoughts of ‘Home’ are at their most vivid and personal.  With dispassionate distance the image documents an unremarkable transitional urban space that nonetheless holds great significance for those leaving and arriving.  The compositional skill of the photographer drew the jurys attention to wider social themes surrounding ‘This Place We Call Home’ that extended beyond traditional representations of domesticity.

Second prize: Leon Giblin for his snapshot of visitors shoes outside Donal Hickeys Nun’s Lane.

Third Prize: David Maguire for his photo of visitors exploring 12 Henrietta Street.

Also commended winners , in no particular order, were David McCarthy, Hannah Scaife, Detail Design Studio for their Instagram entries, Andrew Muir and Robert Bohan for their entries on Twitter and David S for his entry on Yelp.

Thank you very much to all our sponsors for the generous prizes; Luas and KC Peaches.
