Open House London 2012 was a Great Success

27.09.12

The weekend of 22 and 23 September saw the 20th anniversary edition of Open House London with a huge programme of nearly 800 buildings opening their doors to the public alongside a programme of evening events, expert-led tours, landscape walks and boat tours all for free.

On Sunday thousands queued for the chance to see inside Foster’s iconic 30 St Mary Axe with spectacular 360-degree views of the capital. BBC London joined visitors at the top of this London landmark to hear their views, whilst ITV spoke to people outside in the queue.

Many buildings have already reported record numbers of visitors and have enjoyed positively engaging with their local communities and joining with Open-City to raise awareness of good design over the two days.

The Independent, The Guardian, Wallpaper and The Telegraph all previewed some of this year’s Open House London highlights before the weekend and CNN reported on visiting private homes in East London.

The dates for Open House London 2013 are 21 and 22 September.
