Jennifer Keegan was born in Dublin in 1966 and studied French and Spanish at TCD, graduating in 1988. After a year in Madrid, she worked in London at Vogue before returning to Dublin in 1993 to present RTE’s fashion programme, Head to Toe. In 1998, she moved into independent filmmaking; her first documentary, Real Men Don’t Wear Togs, won a Premio Ondas in 1999 at Spain’s equivalent of the Baftas. She produced a trilogy of visual documentaries about the changing face of Dublin for TG4 in 2000 and 2001. Her first drama, Cake (2002), starring Brendan Gleeson, was awarded an IFTA for best short and a special mention at the Cork Film Festival.
